Faculty of public health began its educational and research activities in 1987 with the admission of 53 students and 4 faculty members.

The health education program was first initiated as a two-year educational program in the field of family health and four-year Bachelor’s Degree in public health. however, it developed steadily over years and resulted in a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs that we offer today.

The School of Public Health’s main objectives are to provide the highest level of education, foster new research and strengthen health capacities and services in order to: prevent illness and injuries, ensure people live in a safe and clean environment, have healthy eating and other lifestyle habits and develop policies and programs to reduce health disparities and improve health and healthcare services. To achieve these objectives, School of Public Health has a well-established management structure with over 41 academic members of staff, 6 educational departments, more than 3000 BSc students and 220 MSc and PhD students in a variety of courses, although the school continues to expand.
